Cinnamon Toast Crunch is a delicious sugary cereal that is loved by millions of people across The United States and Canada. Although Cinnamon Toast Crunch is very tasty, many people do not know the dangerous and unhealthy ingredients lurking in the tiny sugary cinnamon squares.

Dangers of Cinnamon Toast Crunch

The daily consumption of Cinnamon Toast Crunch can have adverse side effects on the human body. For instance, Cinnamon Toast Crunch contains large amounts of ingredients and preservatives such as sugar, salt, trisodium phosphate, and butylated hydroxytoluene which can be harmful to humans.

Sugar

Cinnamon Toast Crunch contains 12 grams of sugar per serving! The consumption of large sugar amounts can cause obesity, an increased risk of heart disease, acne, diabetes, increased risk of cancer, cavities, and tooth decay.

Salt

Cinnamon toast Crunch contains 230mg of salt per serving. The consumption of large salt amounts can cause heart attacks and/or heart failure, strokes, kidney problems, fluid retention issues, and osteoporosis.

Trisodium Phosphate

The consumption of large trisodium phosphate amounts can cause kidney damage, soft tissue calcification, and bone calcium removal.

Butylated Hydroxytoluene

Small amounts of butylated hydroxytoluene in food are considered to be safe, however large doses of butylated hydroxytoluene have been found to affect the thyroid and may even cause cancer.

The Issue

This is a major issue because this product is making consumers like Americans and Canadians unhealthy and at risk for various diseases and health issues. Americans and Canadians should not be consuming any food that presents adverse health effects for the human body.

Solution

In order to create a healthier version of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, General Mills should lower the amount of sugar per serving or use a healthier type of natural sugar such as Stevia. General Mills can also remove trisodium phosphate and butylated hydroxytoluene or use healthier additives such as ascorbic acid which is an additive that actually has health benefits.

Should We Continue to Consume Cinnamon Toast Crunch

All in all, it is important that consumers do not eat Cinnamon Toast Crunch too often. By eating Cinnamon Toast Crunch in moderation and not every day, you can prevent yourself from becoming unhealthy and at risk for various diseases and health issues.
